Check out the user guide. It's covered there. Covered extensively in the wiki and these forums, too.

simple solution use this htaccess file will help you

hi, i don't know that much about htaccess. i am on a free web hosting(with cpanel). can i modify that to use htaccess?

A .htaccess file is just a file named .htaccess which you upload by ftp.

Hi Rana - Pete's right - it should be a drop-in of the file, and .htaccess files are not all that complex. Have a read up on them, see if your ISP can cope with you uploading one, and if it doesn't work post back here with where you're up to.

Apropos this kind of testing scenario - if you can, I'd really recommend you try doing this kind of testing on your local machine - it'll make life way easier.
