Is it possible to pass a query through the controller without a function?

This is my first website to build with codeigniter and so far I've really enjoyed the clean urls.

Right now my URL reads

http://localhost/index.php/controller/function/param

I would like it to read

http://localhost/index.php/controller/param

Is this even possible.
