CodeIgniter Seems to just HANG!

I am running CI v1.7.1 w/ Smarty v2.6.22. I was testing a code change and an error was encountered. I fixed the code, but now, when I refresh the page, the browser just sits there at the hour glass prompt waiting for the request to complete.

Is there a way to basically "reset" CodeIgniter? The only way to work around the problem is to rename my contoller (i.e., mycontroller => mycontroller2). Clearly, that is not a suitable solution.
