How do I disable CI using error HTML template

Is it possible that I would like CI just output error text without HTML enclosing it.

You would need to change the core class files of CI, which is easy enough to do, but I don't like doing so as it makes upgrading more difficult...

you can remove the html from the files in the application/errors directory.
