test cache question

I'm getting ready to move a site off of my local dev server running MAMP onto my host.

Do I need to set any permissions for the cache directory to make sure caching works, or will it all be automatic?

Is there a way for me to tell if the cache is working properly?

Yes, always double-check the directory and file permissions.

If files are being written to the directory, it's relatively safe to assume it's working.
