It is very gratifying to see the CodeIgniter community re-engaging Smile
The numbers of registered users, threads and posts continue to grow, as do the offers to help!

What has happened so far:
  • We have formed an interim council, to guide the process forward
  • The CodeIgniter website has been made over
  • The stale branches in the code repository have been trimmed
  • We have decided to release Version 3 under the MIT license

What is happening as you read this:
  • Testing and discussion for Version 3 have increased
  • We have a small team working on styling the User Guide, consistent with the website
  • We have a small team working on a forum theme, consistent with the website
  • We have received an archive of the forum posts from EllisLab, and are working on a program to import that history into our new forum
  • We have someone looking into the unit tests in our code repository
  • Open issues are being investigated, and resolved or closed
  • New issues are being opened, so the number of issues is only going down slowly Undecided
  • The Session driver continues to be refined

What still needs to happen:
  • We will need more testing, for the Session driver and probably other functionality
  • The wiki needs some attention
  • The User Guide could benefit from an audit for accuracy and readability

So, lots is happening, and we are working hard to get Version 3 released!
You are all anxious to know when that will be ... the answer is still "when it is ready", sorry.

Once we have Version 3 out the door, we will establish a process for discussing and choosing enhancements, and coming up with a roadmap for CodeIgniter Big Grin

Look for some "help wanted" posts on the forum, as we move ahead Cool
