Accessing a field name with space of a table in a MSSQL

I've never used MS SQL - the only thing I know is how to cope with a full file system when the database engine stalls, because it can't write to its log file anymore.

Not hugely useful, I concede.

But knowing the plethora of language extensions, which presumably more than makes up for the lack of standards compliance, of MS products, I suspect there's a relatively easy way you can add a synonym to a given table. If that's the case, whack on the synonym "pinched_from_sybase" to the extant column: "pinched from sybase" and then just work with the synonym.

Of course, if you can't have synonyms .. your earlier assessment is now appropriate (you are, to use your vernacular, SOL).
A programmer has a problem - they need to use a database. They think "I know, I'll use Microsoft SQL".

Now they have two problems.
Correction: Now they have hundreds of problems.
