This is a really strange thread. if it was April 1st, I wouldn't have blinked.

The OP asks for advice on which editor to use, though I'm sure this must have been answered or covered in hundreds of posts already.

The OP doesn't specify which platform either, but for what it's worth and in an effort to help (by reading between the lines).....

Note: all are text editors appropriate for coding CodeIgniter applications.

Windows
IDEs: Netbeans, Eclipse
Text editors: notepad++, Vim

Linux
IDEs: Netbeans, Eclipse
text editors: Gedit, Vim, Geany

Mac
IDEs: Netbeans, Eclipse
text editors: Textmate, Vim

hope this helps

Didn't Aptana stop supporting PHP?

It was one of the main reasons I ditched it years ago, because it looked like it was jumping on the RoR bandwagon exclusively (obviously supporting HTML and CSS)

No, you must have got that wrong! I started using Aptana Studio this year and it works totally fine with PHP. It has some kind of support for JavaScript and AJAX too but I never figured out how to use that. I think their about to release a new version just now.

I am not using it anymore since my work computer is SOOO crappy, and netbeans is java, it is to slow so I use notepad++.

But when I used it I was SO happy with it its soo niceBig Grin
For a normal comp its not slow at all(just good and fast), just download it and check it outSmile

Thanks for your suggestion Ivar89.
I am start using a Netbeans on Windows XP with CI snippets and SVN.
Zen Coding is not necessary I think.
I'am oppening and closing a file under Netbeans.
If you openning and editing php files under Windows Explorer yes you need
(Quick Nick cowboy) Notepad++ or PSPad or polish PHPWebPageEditor.

Komodo Edit, the version that I am running has code hinting for CodeIgniter. It's a splendid editor.
