I think you'd need to add system to your htaccess, but I wouldn't recommend it since scaffolding isnt' supposed to be used "in the wild" and dropping it into your htaccess is effectively telling people and bots that you have a system folder. We generally recommend renaming system to something else before it goes live, if even just to provide that extra tiny bit of security through obscurity.

Thanks for the system tip.

I made it thru the blog tutorial and I have a site with a stylesheet and I lose that path also when I introduce the .htaccess. basically the site works but no css and my links all still point to .../index.php/etc... even though I am trying to get rid of "index.php" via the mod rewrite.

I am going to just continue thru the docs and the tutorial and hope I can get it worked out on its own.

The thing about your htaccess is that you need to add every folder that you want to allow access to into your file. images, css, javascript, index.php, robots.txt, etc.
