Find Out Whether a Site Is Built on CI

Is there an easy way to figure out whether a particular website is built on CI?

Let us just say if the owner doesn't want anyone to know if their site/s is/are built on CI then all you can really do is guess.

As Jay said, if they're trying to hide the fact they're using CI, then good luck, but if not, 2 things to look out for are
1) license.txt in the root
2) Force an error page in the hope they're using the default CI page

you could also try going to /application/helpers and see if they have the default html pages there. but if they are smart they moved the app out of the root or at least renamed it

Try to access "index.php" in the root of the site (though I don't know if other PHP frameworks behave similarly to CI).

I consider this a problem, but found a couple of solutions in this thread:

Now if somebody tries that my app says "Wha?"
