Modular Extensions vs Matchbox

Excuse my ignorance but can somebody point out the major difference between Modular Extensions and Matchbox ?

They seem to fix the same problem in codeigniter, but Matchbox is a bit unmaintained from what I can see.

Any tips ?

I'll let somebody else point out the differences, because they are somewhat different...

... but if you want the better and more robust of the two, Modular Extensions is DEFINITELY the way to go. Wiredesignz is pure genius.
