Unusual entries in log files for non-existant js files...

I just took a look at one of the log files for a site and these entries appeared:

It looks likes some sort of bot is trying to find a js file to presumably hack into. Is this a common occurrence and is there anything I can do to make sure common approaches to hacking are avoided? What is the best practice to prevent uses finding such files?
