Validation Vs Form_validation

Just realized that there are two pages in the user guide that:

Both have the title "Form Validatio" and both go over basically the same material.

This one says it supercedes the "old" one... but what is the "old" one?

Assumed new one? http://ellislab.com/codeigniter/user-gui...ation.html

Assumed old one? http://ellislab.com/codeigniter/user-gui...ation.html

Might we get some content added to which ever the "old" one is stating as such, maybe even say "This page is merely for legacy support" with a link to the new one?

You can thank Google for me finding that page. I keep a copy of the userguide on my home server ( because my internet can go out for hours on end with no warning/notice ) but the search in the local copy uses the same search as the production copy - google.

Thanks!

if you go to the below link

http://ellislab.com/codeigniter/user-gui...ation.html

you can find this:

"This library has been deprecated. Use of the form_validation library is encouraged."

Hi Dix,

Personally, I would like to see dates put in place for the last update of the user guide, but it's not that big of a deal.

But for now I'll point out the painfully obvious... that message was put in place *because* this issue was pointed out to them, while it may not have been directly due to my post it was definitely put there after I made this post (3 weeks ago).

But thanks though.
