Basic template understanding

Hi guys.
I'm new here. I hope I'll make Codeigniter proud by developing a good application.
To achieve that I will need some help from you guys. My friend designed in adobe photoshop a job seeker website and exported it to basic HTML. My part comes here. I'll have to code the server side part.
Seems to me that Codeigniter is the best choice in doing that. I started playing with controllers, views and things work good. I hate to hard code in plain PHP. CI seems to be the right thing for me.
I have a html page, with a image folder, some js and CSS. How do I make a template out of it ? I tried to google some tutorials but It's kinda hard to understand.
For example I have DX Auth. How do I put the login form on top of the page ?

Thanks. I'll accept any suggestions, tips even if they are not related to templates.

You can start with RTFM. Then follow-up with "template" as the search term for the forum. Plenty of resources on this topic...
