i think it is reasonable since every application releases any of its report and sometimes clients need PDF-like, and it not easy to get the "ready use" class better than code igniter team do.

There's already a lot of references you can use for generating PDF reports.

Why not use the DOMPDF plugin. There is an example in the bambooinvoice application made by Sir Derek Allard.

You can also use the cezpdf class.

You can generate a PDF report where data are from the database. It's really easy to use both DOMPDF and CEZPDF.

I guess these are the default class libraries of CI.
