Fast User Login/Registration system

I have taken over a project that was briefly started in Joomla and I don't think Joomla is right for the job. I have a strong knowledge of PHP and would like to give CodeIgniter a try. I need to re-build the website fast (luckily, there is only a few static pages) but the user login/registration system is what I'm concerned about.

I don't really like building login/registration systems so I wanted to see if CodeIgniter offers a quick way to build one. Are there any examples that people could point me to? I checked the Guide but didn't see anything about authentication/registration.

Also, search the forums. The forums are oversaturated with auth libraries and such.
