3.0 Documentation to go
#1

Hi,
I would like to ask for a downloadable version of the 3.0 user guide.
Yes, yes, I know - you can always look it up on the webpage, but having it offline would be very convenient.

Thank you

You can find the up to date docs here: https://github.com/lonnieezell/codeigniter-3-docs

The user guide will come "pre-built" with the official release. Having a downloadable version, in the meantime, is a good idea. I will add that so the site (with suitable disclaimers!) and post an update or link here. This won't happen immediately, but by tomorrow this time for sure.

The CI 2 and 3 user guides are now available on the Documents page on the main website.

Thx for sharing the docs .. but please change the design ot the documentation like the old on https://github.com/lonnieezell/codeigniter-3-docs
For me the new one is horrible and not proper to read.

Hehe, we can't win! There are two problems with the format of the docs on Lonnie's repo: (1) they are awkward to navigate, which numerous CI community members have pointed out, and (2) they use the EllisLab branded style, common to ExpressionEngine and MojoMatters.

The proper approach is to have a CI-specific style, consistent with the website. No, not the ugly website we have, but the beautiful one that the community will help build Smile

In the meantime, the user guide has been styled using the sphinx default theme. It may not be the prettiest, but it is functional, with the collapsible navigation sidebar (the most common complaint). Tackling this is on our to-do list, but not at the top.

Hmmm - any community members familiar with sphinx themes? Undecided

This would be a nice project for your students? ;o) I read through the docs and its not a big think i think. But you could try in the meanwhile the other included styles like "sphinxdoc" or "traditional" -> http://sphinx-doc.org/theming.html

For my taste lighter looks friendlier ;o)
