Didnt find any info whether this one needs to be changed or if "" indicates that default directory will be used for database caching?

I think if you leave it empty it will not cache.
So if you need caching, you have to set it.

Does it need to be absolute? Relative? It doesn't say anywhere and I can't find an example.

Mine is still empty, and the cache files goes in to the cache directory inside /system/.

Just make sure that permissions is set correctly!
