to excel plugin not found

i have my system folder outside of my application folder. i copied the to_excel plugin to the system/plugins folder, when I try to load it, I get a message saying the file cannot be found. i tried creating a plugins folder inside the application folder and copied the to_excel plugin there and still get the same message. any thoughts on what could be causing this?

file permissions or case sensitivity perhaps?

meh. i just found it. somehow save the .php extension with a space at the end. now i've got a list of errors to work through.
