Submitting form to self puts index.php in URL

Is there anyway to avoid that?

If I go to http://mywebsite/ and I have a form that submits to the same page, is there a way I can do that without having the address bar return as http://mywebsite/index.php?

Make sure your site is properly configured.

Check the config.php file for the value of index_page, which should be empty when you use URL rewriting.

I'm not using URL rewrite in this case. Although, I will be eventually, so maybe I should just ignore this for now.
