Translation help

Hi guys,

I'm trying to translate my page and it could not be done by just translating the file at:application/language/english/ ?

I have translated all the files to my language, Portuguese but nothing happens.

What is the easiest way to do that?

This may be a dumb question but once you translated the language files, did you load the new language files instead of the english ones? You can change the default language in your config.php file by setting $config['language'] to a different value.

I have changed the english files content like:

$lang['required'] = "The %s field is required.";

to

$lang['required'] = "O campo campo %s é obrigatório.";

but nothing happens.
