Slow loading

I have developed a site using Code Igniter which runs really well on my dev box, but now that its online, it is particularly slow to load. Is there a way that I can see where & why there is a delay in loading times?

i had a similar problem and it was due to using shared hosting.

i got a VPS (through slicehost.com) and am finding it's much faster. more expensive though (~$20 a month).

or you can complain to your shared hosting provider and see if they will move you to a less cluttered server.
