language file for custom form validation class

I created MY_Form_validation that extends Form_validation
I then loaded this library from my model. This works great when I validate I can access my functions without a problem. The issue is how do I specify the error message for each function in a language file?
Right now I get Unable to access an error message corresponding to your field name.
