Common/toolkit class

Hi,

I have a few functions that don't belong to any particular model but I want to access them globally, how would I go about this?

I was thinking something along the lines of a toolkit model and having it auto loaded. I would then be able to call the function using $this->toolkit->function();

Is this the best way to go about it?
