how to remove index.php in url???

Hi!

i am having trouble calling pages using like

when i enter http://localhost/CI/my_data_page

it give page not found error
and when i do this
http://localhost/Test_ci_1/index.php/my_data_page

it shows the page.

I don't understand the problem how to remove the index.php in betwen the url.
