codeigniter query takes away & when it arrives to my controller

A& b is passed into a controller method safely
but A &b doesn't work.

It seems like unless there is a space after &, & is taken away.

For example, if i pass &&&& into my controller method, only &&& arrives to the controller method code.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm using CI1.7.2, this wasn't a problem with 1.6.0.

I don't understand at all what you mean? Perhaps some code would let us understand what is going on ...
