Halogy Releasing Open Source Version of its CodeIgniter Powered CMS
#1

Ok, the time has finally arrived.

As a thank you to the CodeIgniter community and to help make Halogy even more awesome, we're releasing an open source version of it to the world.

I thought I'd announce it first on the CI forums.

The version will be 1.0.2, and will include:

- In place editing
- Version control
- Multi-user permission system
- Image and File Uploads
- Website Import tool (bringing in all assets including CSS and Images)
- Online Template, CSS and Javascript editor
- Powerful templating engine (taken from CI's) with conditional statements
- Web Forms module
- User management module
- lots more

It's build on CI, using HMVC so is totally modular and extendable.

We'll be making our money from selling the E-Commerce and Blog modules, but the Community License will be totally free.

Thanks all for letting me learn off you over the last 3 years.

Nice move Stu!

I recall you saying that someday Halogy (or part of it) would be opensourced. Looking forward to peek into the code. Lots of interesting stuff (in-place editor, version controlled, multi permission...)

Thanks! Loads of thanks!

While it is great to see your code can you have a quick guide on how to setup Halogy on a server (LAMP/MAMP) along with what features and functionalities are exposed in the Opensource version of the code.

Thanks

Which library are you using to hand tags liek {page:action} .. and how is the internal working of this? does it call a function page within a controller or library?

Hiya,

It's the MY_Parser library, basically Halogy's own template parser adapted from the CI version.
