HTML not displaying correctly

I have a CMS with a wysiwyg editor. The editor creates the necessary HTML and the code is stored in the database. When I go to pull the HTML from the database to display it on a page, the HTML code shows up
Example:
<strong>TITLE<\strong> shows up instead of TITLE

I'm not sure what is causing this.
