CI Reactor?

Howdy,
On net.tutsplus.com are a lot of great tutorials about CodeIgniter! I have watched 'til "day 8". Problem is that they used v1.7.x, but I see that newest version is 2.0.0. Is 2.0.0 stable enough to use it? How big changes there are from 1.7.x? Is documentation done? What's main reason for changing version numbers from '1' to '2' (1.7.x => 2.0.0)? What PHP version CI 2.0.0 requires?
