Codeigniter php 5 Active Record

I must congratulate and praise everyone for making codeigniter 2.0 come true. You guys make it look easy but I know it aint. I have question that I have always wanted toa ask. With CI at 2.0 and using at least php 5.1.6, when will we see PDO used fully in CI. Active Record is a design Pattern so surely PDO can be used to further make AR better in CI? I used php before I found CI and it was a real pleasure using PDO as it was fast and just generally a joy to use specifically with the sqlite 3 as it makes it useless to use something like mysql for the most simple tasks. I would like to know, is there any plan to use PDO? will we have proper use of sqlite3 in CI?
