I am a pretty new student of PHP, teaching myself.
My ultimate goal is to make an online text based browser game. I'm a regular at a programming forum and when I asked about the things I would need to know to do that they mentioned that I would want to use CodeIgniter.
Now, this is probably going to sound dumb, especially since I have looked around your site before posting, but, what is CodeIgniter? I know its a "php framework" but, what does that really mean?
I've been typing out PHP on notepad++ and uploading it to my host for a few months and it works fine. So I'm just kind of confused as to what this is and why I would need it.
