Just wanted to inform fellow devs out there about this niggling problem that I had...
Since upgrading to Windows 7, my CI app took 3 to 4 secs to render, from the usual 0.4 secs. After lotsa debugging, I found that it was the writing of log files that caused the delay of up to an order of 10. I turned off logging and the render time went back to normal. So I kinda assumed it was a Windows 7 thing, probably some fancy IO / share permission causing my angst. Then I just realized it could be the AV software that came with my Dell... and indeed it was! Turned off McAfee and the problem went away.
Some reports out there indicated that BitDefender also caused a similar problem. So the moral of the story is, if your PHP app is taking longer than usual to load, try checking your AV s/w, you might never know...
