I know those work very well, but as stated above, I'd like to keep php to a minimum in my views. That is why I decided to do it as followed, which solves my problem:

If in the end the methods you two mentioned are better in the long run, Meaning, if I keep having troubles because I use "../", I will use php. That way I'll learn it the hard way but I'll have learned it for good.
