How to use Model as stand-alone (without controller or rest of CI)?

Hello,

I would like to use CI's model functionality just by setting up the basic config/database.php configuration and instantiate my Models directly in my application.

Is there a way that I can do this?

No, there is not. At least, you need one controller. M can live without V and C, in MVC pattern.
