Passing variables with Pagination??

I am still learning CodeIgniter. But I am using pagination and everything is working like it should with:

http://site.com/index/search/functionname/20/

But how do I pass the variables that I need to query the database?

I need to pass the $city and $state

I don't see where this is added to Pagination
