I brought this book (it hasn't arrived yet, but luckily I downloaded the pdf), and I must say it is nice to have a book to read about CI.

However I've now read it backwards and forwards and I'm convinced that even if you follow the flow of the book the result code is incomplete and non-functioning. The examples that come with the code download are handy but I personally feel I'm in the same situation that I was before reading the book, lots of fragmented code that doesn't quite work. I'm not a complete php novice and I have obviously had to make minor tweaks to the code (silly errors) but the CRUD model just doesn't want to play ball with the validation class!

It's a shame because the example code produces quite a handy little app!

Has anyone else succeeded where I have failed?
