Hum... your code ran fine on my server earlier...

The only thing I'd suggest is to put a fresh copy of CI and if not working... to check the server itself.

Alright so I found the problem and of course it was much simpler than I thought and proves how much of an idiot I am for missing it.

In the base_url for the config.php file there was an extra / within the url....

I apologize for not noticing this mistake earlier but I figured that since the rest of the website worked fine it wouldn't have been here. Apparently only $_POST had an issue with this however.
