CI 1.6.3 with PHP 5.3

Any quick way to get CI 1.6.3 running on PHP 5.3 as an interim measure while I update to CI 2.1.0?

My new client's hosting service just dropped PHP 5.2 and he now gets "The URI you submitted has disallowed characters." when clicking on any links.

Actually seems like the hosting service did a whole bunch of updates (besides PHP) that changed behaviour of the URL encoding.

Managed to hack system/libraries/URI.php, line 189: changed $str to rawurlencode($str)
