How to get started with JQuery AJAX using codeigniter native library ?

Dear All.. Good day.
I am new to codeigniter, we are building a job portal using codeigniter. So far we have learnt how to code in codeigniter and how to work using MVC approach. We have implemented user registrations, roles and permissions etc. SO far so good, but now we have to implement JQuery AJAX for form validations, form submissions, auto complete features and different search functionalities as well.
I have been looking around for help but unable to understand how to actually start using codeigniter library classes to implement them.
I was wondering if you guys could help me out. Please share if anybody has some code example about how to implement JQuery/AJAX from the scratch. Thank you
