Permission required to run codeigniter app

I deployed my app on appfog and login stopped working. After contacting support team, they advised me to store session in database and things started working fine. So my question is why this is happening. What are the permissions required to run the app.

I highly doubt that has anything to do with CI, and more so with App Fog and whatever environment you're using there. Try talking to them.
