CI and MariaDB

I'm creating a project using CI to work with databases MySQL. When the database is much larger. My company decided to use MariaDB instead of MySQL, I read the CI manual and it is not compatible/support with MariaDB. Development team plans to do? Should I stop the project or not? Sorry for bad my English.

MariaDB is a drop-in replacement to MySQL. Just put CI in MySQL mode, and point it at your MariaDB server. It will work fine.
