Codeigniter - Showing error 'Unable to select specified database'

I think what Cryode said is spot on. Clearly it's able to connect to the DBMS, it just can't connect to the "project" database, which suggests to me that you don't have permission to. Try logging in through PHPMyAdmin and creating a table within that database. Also, check that your hosting panel hasn't prefixed your table name with something. Sometimes they prefix your table names with your username.
