Hi. What image files and sizes are best for decreasing the loading time of my site?

Hi,

When it comes to images sizes on the web, the smallest size is always best, so as long as you can reduce the size and maintain the quality then you should always seek to get this as low as possible. A good online tool to compress your images is smushit if your using Photoshop then you could use save for web and adjust settings there.

In terms of whether you should use gif, jpeg or png follow this information taken from here

For photographic type images, JPG is best
For logos or images with blocks of flat colour and no gradients, GIF or PNG8
For images using effects such as drop shadows or glows, which also require transparency, choose PNG24.
