We don't have to wait for Santa, just to use this repo https://github.com/EllisLab/CodeIgniter !
Santa knows about it for a long time, so do we.
There's the 3.0 version silently lurking in the development branch. Pretty stable I think.

A while ago and for a while there was this link User Guide Nightly. It was the documentation from the development branch built and put on their website.

After some website changes the link doesn't work anymore, so you probably need to build the docs for yourself using the repository files. There are some .RST files in the "user_guide_src" directory, but no pre-generated HTML files.
