How to upgrade version 1.7.0 to 2.1.4

Please help me guys on how to upgrade a version 1.7.0 to 2.14 version of codeigniter. Can you give an instruction for that. Thank you guys.

Thank you But it is possible to skip other step. All i want to do is directly upgrade 1.7.0 to 2.1.4. Is that possible or not?

Not without following all of the steps in between. Some upgrades involve nothing besides copying over the files. Others require file structure or code changes. This is a lot easier if you don't wait 3 or 4 years in between upgrades
