Database problem

There is a problem with database driver. I get this message:
Call to undefined function mysqli_init() in /var/www/public_html/system/database/drivers/mysqli/mysqli_driver.php on line 126

Been using CI 2.X for years and is very satisfied.

Does your php.ini have the mysqli extension loaded?

Thought that mysqli was included in CI/System. After I installed php5-mysqlnd it worked.
