I am new to this new version of codeigniter ci 3.0.4. on the config setting of the uri_protocoal , there is no auto as it is in ci2... How do i go about it?

Try REQUEST_URI, and if that doesn't work try QUERY_STRING, and if that doesn't work try PATH_INFO.

AUTO is an alias for REQUEST_URI
