Retaining key param within the url

Is there any way to retain a param within the url if I reload the view with an $this->load->view('someview') ?

I could just use a refresh however that does not appear to work with the CL validation. I'm not sure of an way to run validation and retain the key param within the url if the validation fails.

Any suggestions to would be greatly appreciated.
