get anchor of referer

Ok, not really CI, but...

I am using ajax calls for some of my pages. I thought it would be wise to use anchors (like gmail) so I can still use urls to initialize some ajax calls on page refresh or with passing links to others.

So a link to my site uses anchors to do some ajax stuff. Now I also have multiple languages. You can set them by clicking a language icon, this will bring you to a page that changes the language, this page than immediately redirects you back to your old page.

So what I need is the anchor of the referring url to make it work nicely. But it seems that firefox and maybe others aren't putting the anchor in the referrer string.

Any ideas?

It seems just not supported by most browsers and that's it. So what I will do is set the language with an ajax call and do a page refresh. Should have thought of that before reading my question here again hours later.
But still too bad that the decision is taken to remove the acnhor part in the referer url. No compute.
