CI download issue
#1

hi, i am a new user of CI, i am facing a rather weird issue here….
When i download codeigniter_v1.7.1, the filesize shown is 893kb, however after downloading a few 100kbs, automatic virus scan starts and post this virus scan it shows the download process as complete, although the zip file that has been downloaded is only a few 100kbs and not the entire file. This error was detected while I was trying to uncompress it and gave me a truncated compressed file error. I tried the download process almost 4 times but to no avail. long face

Anyone faced a similar problem…and resolved it…?? if so pls do suggest a solution.

Thanks
vspravin.

Please don't post the same question multiple times. It is considered to be spamming the forums.

Personally I have never had issue with downloads from Ellislab.

Have you tried downloading with several browsers?

I have a problem downloading CI as well.

When I try to download in IE8 I get a file 269KB in size, Firefox downloads it fine.

Very strange, but something worth looking into.

You answered it yourself. Don't use IE except for downloading another browser (Firefox).
You can then use that browser to download other browsers like Chrome, Safari.

There is no reason to use IE for ANYTHING except testing if your site looks ok.

Typical I hate IE response. Very constructive.

Maybe CI would like their website to work in all browsers also?

In order to test, I just downloaded CI in
IE6, IE7 and IE8 on XP (VMs)
IE7 on Vista (VMs)

All worked fine

Strange hey, it's done this on both my office PC and laptop. Maybe it's something to do with AVG...

hi Glenn,
You are correct, the download works fine on Firefox but not on IE6.May be AVG also has got something to do with it,nevertheless, we seem to have come to a work around for CI download by trying it from multiple browsers.
